Enhanced citations, including web search, in DatabookAI

DatabookAI now includes clickable citations for web-sourced insights — helping sellers trust and safely use AI outputs in external conversations.

What's new?

We’ve added full clickable citations for web search results, replacing prior disclaimers. Users can now open a Sources side panel showing segmented citations from Databook data and web sources.

  • Dynamic Source Icons in the “Sources” Button
    • A Databook icon represents citations from Databook’s proprietary data.
    • A globe icon indicates the presence of web-based citations.
    • These icons appear dynamically depending on the source mix in the LLM response.
  • Side Panel for Sources (New UX Pattern)
    • Clicking the “Sources” button now opens a right-hand side panel instead of a modal.
    • This change aligns with emerging LLM UX standards. It’s easier to browse, scroll, and reference while keeping the main message visible.
    • You can now keep sources open persistently while navigating the rest of the response.
  • Source Segmentation by Type
    • Inside the side panel, citations are organized by source type (Databook vs. Web). We will continue to build on the pattern as we start to include other sources (e.g. Knowledge Base).
    • Web citations currently contain less metadata, this is intentional. Since we use search summaries that amalgamate multiple sources, they don’t map cleanly to individual footnotes.
    • We do not display inline footnotes for web sources because the content does not originate from a specific search object.

Why it matters

This update strengthens DatabookAI’s position as a trusted, externally ready source of insights—blending verified internal data with clearly sourced web content. For sellers, it increases confidence in using AI-generated outputs in board decks, exec prep, and customer-facing conversations. For GTM leaders, it improves adoption and reduces risk—ensuring teams can move faster while maintaining credibility with buyers. It also sets DatabookAI apart from LLM-based chat tools by providing enterprise-grade, verifiable outputs for strategic selling.
